Activision has unveiled the next installment of the hugely popular Skylanders will be “mixing things up” when it hits store shelves. Skylanders is a game in which players are able to use a multitude of different characherts that they can actully collect in real life. The game is played using collectible toys that interact with the game via a special game input called the “Portal of Power.”
Soon the much beloved children’s gaming franchise will be adding a new game, and with it 32 Skylanders toys and 16 new SWAP toys…that are capable of 250 unique combinations. Skylanders SWAP Force (as the name suggests), will feature the ability to swap out the top and bottom halfs of the SWAP characters to create fun and new combinations. Fans can get a look at the new toy at the upcoming Toy Fair in NYC Feb 10 – 13.
As for the story of the game itself?
In Skylanders SWAP Force , Portal Masters embark on an all-new adventure in the mysterious Cloudbreak Islands, home to a mystical volcano that erupts every hundred years to replenish the magic in Skylands. During an epic battle, a brave group of Skylanders were caught in the volcano’s eruption, which blasted them apart and sent them to earth. But, the magic of the volcano gave these heroes a remarkable new power — the ability to swap halves – turning them into a special team known as the SWAP Force. Meanwhile, Kaos is back with a new evil plan. And now, Portal Masters everywhere must reassemble the SWAP Force — in their original form or in new combinations — and send them back to Cloudbreak to save Skylands!
Skylanders SWAP Force will be made available for the Wii, Wii U, and Xbox 360. A 3DS title is in the works as well. Previous Skylanders titles have been rated E 10+ for ages 10 and up.
