Each week, Gamers Trust offers up info on what games are hitting store shelves. Not only the games and dates, but a bit about them as well as the content rating to help folks make informed decisions.
Monday
- Anodyne (PC, Mac, Linux) – In Anodyne, you explore and fight your way through nature, urban and abstract themed areas in the human Young’s subconscious, evoked by a 16-bit-era visual style and a moody, dream-like soundtrack. There is no rating available, but from the developers when asked on whether the game is appropriate for kids, “Possibly. From our scientific studies, this game is likely completable by 6 year olds who are familiar with video games. Content-wise, some of the themes in Anodyne are a bit dark, and there is occasional profanity. There is very little graphic violence.”
- Fire Emblem: Awakening (Nintendo 3DS) – This is a role-playing game in which players assume the role of a young adventurer who journeys through a fantasy world. Players engage in tactical battles by moving characters around grids and taking turns attacking enemies. It is rated T for Teen.
Tuesday
- American Mensa Academy (PS3) – This is a trivia game that trains players for the Mensa intelligence exam. Players can participate in a variety of tests that include pattern recognition, math problems, and memorization drills. Is is rated E for Everyone.
- Dead Space 3 (PC, PS3, Xbox 360) – Dead Space 3 is an upcoming third-person shooter survival-horror video game in which players assume the role of Isaac Clarke, an engineer battling a mysterious alien threat using futuristic weapons. It is rated M for Mature.
- Fist of the North Star: Ken’s Rage 2 (PS3, Wii U, Xbox 360) – This is an action-fighting game in which players assume that role of martial artists that battle for survival in a post-apocalyptic battlefield. Rated M for Mature.
- Sly Cooper: Thieves In Time (PS3, PS Vita) – This is an action game in which players assume the role of Sly Cooper, a master thief on a quest through time to save his clan’s legacy. Players control Sly and his friends as they run and jump through levels. It is rated E-10 (Ages 10 and Up).
Wednesday
- Special Forces: Team X (PC, Xbox 360) – Special Forces: Team X (STX) is a team-centric 3rd Person cover based shooter. The game features a unique map selection system, with the ability to shape the battlefield by selecting individual environmental pieces, resulting in over 100 map variations. It is rated M for Mature.
Thursday
- Ah! Heaven (Nintendo DS – DSiWare) – You play as a soul willing to ascend to heaven. Though heaven’s gate is open, God will not take you there, you have to go by yourself. You will meet all kinds of danger in your journey; Can you get through it to make your ascension? Rated E for Everyone.
Sunday
- Brain Training for Dummies (Nintendo 3DS) – Brain Training for Dummies is an instructional game designed to test users’ memory, reflexes, and math, language, and spatial/logic skills. Mini-games include crossword puzzles, rapid recall, reading games, and spelling. It is Rated E for Everyone.
