Activision and Microsoft announced Friday that they will be teaming up to put on a world-wide gaming tournament using Xbox 360 and Call of Duty: Black Ops II. The tournament will pit the top 32 teams from around the world vying for a $1 million dollar prize.
“More people play Call of Duty multiplayer every day than watch the average regular season game of the NBA. The scale and passion of the Call of Duty fan base is simply humbling, and yet there is no formal way to find out who amongst those millions of players is the best of the best, until now,” said Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing.
Full details on the tournament, including how you can participate, are available at the Call of Duty ELITE website.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is a first-person shooter in which players control U.S. soldiers tasked with preventing an imminent terrorist attack. Players complete military mission objectives during the Cold War and in modern-day international locations. It is rated M for Mature.
