Do You Listen To Gaming Podcasts?

I’ve been into podcasting for many years now. I actually got on the bandwagon before there even was a bandwagon inspired by Leo Laporte’s TWiT (This Week in Tech) then only a single show instead of a full-blown network. Along with some other friends I started up a general weekly podcast and even my own production company (which still operated to some degree) that ended up putting out 4 different shows weekly ranging on everything from general discussions to gaming/tech to politics.  After college (meaning when life got real) I had to stop podcasting in lieu of a legitimate broadcasting career. The sad thing is, is that podcasting has since become a truly legitimate broadcasting media. What’s better is that there’s something for everybody.

For us as gamers, there’s a whole slew of shows to choose from. Not only can you find shows about the gaming industry in general, but you can also find shows that tailor to your specific game. While I enjoy playing all sorts of games, my real passion is World of Warcraft. As such, I find myself adding WoW podcasts into my weekly entertainment rotation. Currently I’m listening to “The Instance” (a round-table discussion on all things WoW), “Convert to Raid” (you guessed it, about raiding in the World of Warcraft) and “Tauren Think Tank” (another general discussion WoW show).

I find that podcasts are a great way to further explore your passions whether it’s ham radio (no not ham radio…though with that image in mind it could be interesting.), Star Trek, or mowing the lawn. There’s a plethora of shows to choose from. And no, despite the name, you don’t need an iPod/Phone to listen. So why not take the dive into non-traditional media? You could be one step closer to being a cord-cutter (one of us, one of us…). You can find some great shows in iTunes’ Gaming Section to start. And like I mentioned, you don’t need an iDevice, just use this as a research tool.

See you on the Internets!
