Smash Brothers it was not. When Sony announced that they would be releasing their own 4-person brawler for the PS3 and Vita that would pit the most recognizable characters from the PlayStation Universe against one another it seemed like a good idea. But consumers didn’t seem to agree as when the game was released this past November, it was met with poor reception to say the least.
As a result, Sony has today announced that it will be severing ties to the ‘PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale’ developer studio, SuperBot. While many game studios may be able to recover from having a franchise pulled from them, there’s no indication one way or the other how the PlayStation announcement will affect SuperBot. Chances are it will be on life-support as ‘PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale’ was the studio’s first release.
We all wish the best to the folks over at SuperBot, and I’ll personally miss seeing my ol’ pal PaRappa the Rapper.
