The Importance of Online Gaming Etiquette: What It Is And Why We Need It

While online gaming has opened many doors for cooperative play and meeting like minded individuals, an unfortunate drawback is the sheer volume of rudeness and unfair play that must be sifted through to find a truly enjoyable game experience. While some game communities are better at policing bad behaviour than others, there will always be those who spoil it for the rest of us with poor sportsmanship, unfair exploitation of others and plain old vulgarity. Even the most reasonable person can exhibit bad online behaviour when caught up in a game they are passionate about. Hidden under the … [Read More...]

PlayStation 4 Revealed

It is coming…It is just around the corner…This holiday season will see the dawn of another legendary video game console manufacturer releasing it’s latest wares. Outside of all the hype that usually comes along with such a release the truth dwells somewhere beneath. Sony’s PlayStation 4 is set to come out and to the usual fanfare and all the OMG’s! we can take. To the average PC gamer like me consoles were always a pleasant little distraction from the more serious gaming immersions in the PC world that the gaming community always understood as the king of places to game. Voice Commands Coming to Xbox 720?

It seems that Microsoft is truly upping their game (I'd like to say no pun intended, but we all know it was), when it comes to the Xbox 720. Today The Verge and IGN are reporting that voice recognition ala Siri will be included in the next-gen Microsoft console. Sources familiar with Microsoft's Xbox plans have revealed that Durango, the codename for the next Xbox, will support wake on voice, natural language controls, and speech-to-text. The improved capabilities mean that Xbox users will be able to walk into a room and simply say "Xbox on" to wake up the new Xbox. ~The Verge This would … [Read More...]

How Windows 8 Will Change PC Gaming Forever.

When Windows 8 was first announced way back at the Consumer Electronics Show in 2011, it was met with...mixed results to put it lightly. This continues, to this day. Geek Messiah, Gabe Newell, co-founder of Valve, said: "Windows 8 is a catastrophe for everyone in the PC space." So why is this? The biggest issue that I had with the latest operating system fresh out of Redmond was just the interface. In my day job I'm a systems analyst. I work within Windows all day everyday. What I saw wasn't Windows. What I used when I was accepted into the Windows 8 Developer Preview certainly wasn't … [Read More...]

Off the heels of Gabe Newell's DICE Keynote where he talked up upcoming hardware, Valve has today fired long-time hardware team developer Jeri Elssworth. Elssworth confirmed this this morning via her Twitter Feed. Elssworth was working on many of the hardware project that have been fluttering about recently including concept ideas for the "Steam Box's" controller. She's perhaps most publicly famous for her YouTube channel where she shows off all sorts of science-related projects. No official word has been made as to why she was let go.   … [Read More...]

Where’s My Valentine?

If I was asked what mobile game can grab my interest like no other it would be the "Where's My" series from Disney Interactive. The two main games are Where' My Water and Where's My Perry. In both cases players use their fingers to draw a path across obstacles for water to flow through towards the goal. They're games that have the perfect formula for a mobile game in that they're fun, can be played at anytime for any length, and challenging. Also, Where's My Perry features Perry the Platypus from Phineas and Ferb. So yeah, here's my $0.99. Disney. Just like Christmas time, Perry and … [Read More...]
